Closing Thoughts
There we have it! Auction houses conclude showcases featuring 29 1/1 works total, with 19 selling.
You can look at it multiple ways (and people are), either framing it as a success for the digital art medium or flagging the unsold side of the equation. Relative to the state of the market (still in full recovery mode), I’m more willing to look at the bright side. We’ll likely see private sales on one or more of the unsold works in the coming days/weeks.
I particularly enjoyed the story - straight from Ryan Koopmans (20 ETH high sale at Christie’s) - of directly onboarding a new trad art collector, after literally just meeting him in person at Art Basel and stating I felt he was one of the strongest potential bridges to trad art. We love to see it!
Outlier Archetype sale, UnderTheGAN is an AI force of nature, a favorite Beeple editions sells, and Niceaunties has a moment with Flamingo DAO speaking loudly about their fandom.
Volume ticks up in collections after a few down days. Let’s see what today brings!
