Happy New Year, 24 Hours of Art!
2024 was one hell of a year, wasn't it? It was (very) challenging at times, and yet if you've made it this far it set the table for a strong 2025 in the digital art world.
It has been an honor walking this Substack forward for close to 18 months, matching the daily pace of 24 Hours of Art on X / Twitter with a deeper Report companion on weekdays.
With the effort that goes into these deeper Reports, I knew 24 Hours of Art eventually needed a Subscription or Ad model of some kind. I don't like rushing decisions, so instead of launching something inauthentic, together we kicked the can forward and kept going.
As the page turns to 2025, it’s finally time to launch something that makes sense.
Step One: A New Home
24hours.art is the ticker.
Built together with our partner Transient Labs, it is an overdue home for the 24 Hours of Art brand!
There you will see a 'Daily Reports' menu item, the new home of these deeper Reports. Prefer email? Once connected, you can enter yours. Fresh email delivery begins next week.
Step Two: A New Subscription
For access to the above, we released a 2025 Subscription token on Shape.
It offers the informational benefits of a standard Subscription, while allowing us to (1) create a dynamic ART token that remains as an artifact of 2025 and (2) opens optionality to do fun things as the year unfolds. I think of it as a hybrid Subscription that is very much alive.
Subscription Information:
Dynamic What? The token itself updates every single day (365 times) to each new ART design reveal. At the close of the year, it lives on, continuing to show you what happened year(s) earlier.
Cost: 0.0624 ETH
Translation: At today's ETH price, approximately $215 total ($18/month)
Why Use Blockchain? It is native to what we cover and also… wallet addresses. They open doors to do things for subscribers that email simply doesn't.
Why Use L2? These Subscription tokens are minted on Shape, an Ethereum L2. With part of the Subscription token's value proposition being report utility, we don't want fees or gas getting in the way.
Can I Pay in Fiat (USD)? Sigh... not yet. It is very important to solve this as the year moves forward. I would like the answer to be yes.
What Can I Pay With? Even with the token being on Shape, Transient Labs makes it easy to seamlessly use ETH stored anywhere, meaning on Shape, on Base, on Mainnet, etc.
Step Three: A New Balance
Regardless of this new path, it is important to continue delivering value far and wide. It is good for digital art, good for everyone, and good for 24 Hours of Art.
We will still release a Partial Report every, single day via X / Twitter with a Highlights collage and a main story. Example: today!
Line items, links, and editorial thoughts from yours truly will then exist within the Full Report via the website and (as of next week) email.
