24 HOURS OF ART: Thursday Highlights
Digital Art Headlines, Market Highlights, and Analysis from 11/20 - 11/21
Release of the Year
‘everything vs nothing’ by Joe Pease with Glitch Gallery closes 30 video artworks in auction for 373.71 ETH ($1,150,000).
Marco Peyfuss, co-founder of Transient Labs (builders of the auction site experience), reports 131 unique bidders and 469 bids across the artworks. Artwork winners include Blondie23LMD, Flamingo DAO, Sunday Funday, and the collection’s high mark is ‘constant’, acquired for 24 ETH by kanbas.
Via maltefr (Glitch, Curator):
“We set out to break away from the prevailing platform model, which prioritized a high volume of releases and standardized mechanics. Instead, we focused on storytelling that elevates conversations about digital art and crypto culture within the space.”
Via Ronald (collector of ‘threshold’):
“Been a huge fan of Joe’s work since the beginning of time, back in early 2022. He was an undiscovered gem and instantly knew this would change in near future. The depth of introspection that his work provides was truly immense and definitely shook me to core. Here we are, after 2 years.”
Via Marco Peyfuss:
“It was an honor to play a small role in the exhibition for ‘everything vs nothing’. Seeing the way Joe and the Glitch team operate is nothing short of perfection and it was a bunch of fun building a website experience that matched the exhibition.”
Rainisto Symbiosis
‘Symbiosis’ by Roope Rainisto concludes with Mercedes-Benz. 66 artworks are sold at $650 each and $42,900 total.
The collection is based on images of “cars, art, and architecture at the Mercedes-Benz Museum and selected additional images from the Mercedes-Benz Classic archives” serving as a resource for Rainisto’s AI model.
Via Roope Rainisto:
“I like to look to opportunities to get my art presented in new venues - working with brands was a new experience for me, and there aren't much better brands that Mercedes that came to my mind, with their long history of supporting arts and artists.”
