24 HOURS OF ART: Thursday Highlights
Digital Art Headlines, Market Highlights, and Analysis from 11/13 - 11/14
Neon Autoglyphs
‘Autoglyph #424’ is the second of the 1/1/512 by Larva Labs collection to land with NEON DAO, via private deal brokered by Fountain.
Multitudes of Matt
‘ANON #9’ and his 6 Multitudes are off to a strong start in the Matt Kane ‘a boy and his coin’ series celebrating Bitcoin’s all time high.
The featured ‘ANON #9’ sells for 13.5 ETH to NedRyerson while its Multitude ‘You are henceforth secure’ sells for 3.88 ETH to overflowing.eth.
Four additional Multitudes are live in auction countdown, each with 1.337 ETH bids, and one Multitude is left with reserve of 1.337 ETH.
Via Matt Kane:
“I was really struck by the Multitudes that emerged from ANON #9. My process involves generating ~3,000 images for each ANON, each one seeded by random lines from Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass. I don’t see Whitman’s textual seeds until after several rounds of curation, narrowing down my visual favorites to about 6–30 images. Only then do I run a program to decode the seeded text. I trust serendipity to dance with chaos, and let my aesthetic selections shake hands with meaning as I curate these generative portraits.”
Gradients of Rik
“We tired of gradients yet?” asks Rik Oostenbroek.
The answer is a resounding no, as ‘Verloop — Dégradé’ 1/1/133 by Rik Oostenbroek and David Aerne sells out via Highlight for 18.487 ETH across nearly 100 owners.
The release merges Oostenbroek’s handmade gradients and Aerne’s generative systems and features a book edition co-published by Nguyen Wahed and RRose Editions. It premiered at Paris Photo 2024 Art Fair.
Via Reuben Wu:
“Happy Rik day. Can’t wait for the Oostenbook.”
Rafaël to RFC
Generative on-chain collection ‘newrafael.work’ by Internet Art pioneer Rafaël Rozendaal surges, seeing 42 sales for 17.04 ETH.
Almost all are by Pablo Fraile’s RFC Collection, and now 56 total of the currently 743 artwork are held by RFC.
Via Pablo Fraile:
“A major pioneer in digital art long before NFTs were even a thing. His works are extraordinary yet approachable, visually stunning, and effortlessly pleasing. He’s shaped the space not just with his art but with everything he’s given back to the community, so supporting him feels absolutely right.”
